Sky

A lot of mornings I take photos of the sunrise. Not necessarily at the crack of dawn, but sometime after I get out of bed. We're heading to Los Angeles this morning so we had to get up early. The sky along the horizon was a beautiful mango color fading up to still midnight blue above my head. When I stepped outside I found an even better treat, a tiny sliver of moon just above the horizon with Venus and Saturn watching down on him.

They're almost ripe

On the adventure quest that happens when Henry and Lola go outside for the first time in the morning, there was a lot of scuffling around. Henry darted in one direction, Lola dashed to his side. I thought it a good time to grab my coffee and my camera and see what all the fuss was about.

Picking persimmons

My dogs love persimmons! I think they must check the tree everyday, and today the persimmons smelled ripe. They remind me of deer in the wild gingerly selecting their next meal from a nearby tree branch.

Lola got her prize and was off and running, always playing keep-away from Henry.

Once Henry settled in the shade, Lola was safe to enjoy her snack. She only took about one bite before she completely gave up. Lola's nose had convinced her they were ripe, her discerning taste buds let her know otherwise. So she delivered her disappointing morning snack inside to Thomas' feet.

Caffeine delivery? I think not.

A few weeks ago my friend emailed me and asked if I still use Instant Messenger. I hadn't really thought about that program after leaving college five years ago. I looked around on my Mac and found iChat. After a couple of screen name and password attempts I found the right combination, my buddy list appeared and I was up and chatting! So thrilled with my discovery, I instant messaged my husband who was on my buddy list and also sitting 10 feet away at the time.

H: I love you!

A terse reply comes across.

T: I only use this for work.

Whatever! I was so annoyed! I would have left him alone if the reply had been a bit nicer, but instead I nattered on in his ear all day about the incident. When I say all day, I mean all day. Who doesn't send back a simple, "I love you, too" or "I love you, but I like to keep IM for work"? Eventually, Thomas understood the error of his ways. (If you believe that I have a bridge I can sell you.) And I agreed not to message him.

This morning I woke up early and was enjoying some coffee and chatting to my friend online. On the screen pops up a new message.

T: Where's my coffee, biatch?

H: I can't hear you, I only use this for work.

Then like some sort of away message, I receive this:

T: Messages from this sender are not accepted until after caffeine delivery has been completed.

But I don't feel old

Why is it that I didn't, with any ounce of my being, consider going out to the bar before 10 pm. And now? Here it is 9:38 and I've served dinner and hostessed a full evening of food, drinks and fun and I'm going to bed!

iPhone! Check it out.

Apple does such a nice job right from the start, nice white bags and black boxes.

iPhones

Then you get to enjoy the ever exciting "Apple out of box experience." Apple really cares about the details you see when you get a new product. When you open the box hey present the pièce de résistance:

All of the iPhone's little friends are neatly hidden below the surface. It's just nice and tidy.

But then getting it to work was another story. We don't have At&t so we had to do a little modification...

What a nice husband I have to give me a surprise like this!
